Cyclist dies in west-end accident

The westbound cyclist was hit at the intersection of Trethewey Dr. and Tedder St. at about 8 a.m. by a 4Runner making a left turn, said Toronto police Sgt. Tim Burrows.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cyclist had a credit card but was not carrying photo identification. He was wearing a helmet.

Police: Charges Pending in Cyclist Death

On Wednesday, we had a cyclist fatality in the west end (at Trethewey Dr. and Tedder St.). The Toronto Sun is reporting that charges are pending against the driver:

"The cyclist was travelling westbound, was wearing a helmet and taking all the necessary precautions as far as clothing and visibility," Sgt. Tim Burrows said. "For whatever reason the cyclist was just not seen by the driver of the 4Runner."

Police said the man's family asked them not to release his name.

Cyclist Memorial Scheduled for Wednesday

Advocacy for Respect for Cyclists is co-ordinating a ride and memorial in memory of the cyclist who was killed at Trethewey Dr. and Tedder St.:
A cyclist memorial will be held this coming Wednesday September 17th for the cyclist killed on September 10th.

Ride together from Bloor and Spadina, leaving at 630pm to arrive on site around 730pm. Please bring flowers or candles.
