It seems the city of Toronto cannot provide cyclist with safe cycling passage or lanes within 52 years. So I would to propose an alternative.
If we could connect and share all of our favorite cycling routes that happen on sidestreets and alleyways then we could have a fairly comprehensive cycling map of Toronto. Then if we could convince the city that allowing cyclists to create one ways for cars but not cyclists we could allow cyclists safer passage and cleaner air on the sidestreets and reduce the complexity for can traffic on the major streets.
Here's a google map of some of my favorite sidestreet routes - it should be a public map that anyone can edit. Please add their favorite sidestreet routes.
